The El Segundo Fire Department has cancelled all Fire Department community outreach events until further notice. The action is taken as a precaution to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The City of El Segundo continues to cooperate with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, the Centers for Disease Control and the El Segundo Unified School District to respond to the spread of the novel coronavirus in Los Angeles County. Keys to access a building or any building services, including fire alarm control unit and elevator control, must be provided as required by El Segundo Fire Department regulation.
The El Segundo Fire Department utilizes Knox Box Rapid Entry System to ensure consistent standards for the installation and maintenance of Fire Department key boxes as required by the California Fire Code Section 506, Key Boxes. The code ensures where access gates are placed across fire apparatus access roadways an override key switch will be provided to provide ESFD access.
