The El Segundo Fire Department has cancelled all Fire Department community outreach events until further notice. The action is taken as a precaution to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The City of El Segundo continues to cooperate with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, the Centers for Disease Control and the El Segundo Unified School District to respond to the spread of the novel coronavirus in Los Angeles County. Community Awareness

The Fire Prevention Division and the El Segundo Rotary Club sponsors an annual community awareness campaign and fire prevention poster contest. The contest is held annually in October to commemorate the "Great Chicago Fire" and raise awareness within the community about fire prevention. The contest engages all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades students in El Segundo schools.  Poster contest winners are honored at an El Segundo Rotary Club Rotary meeting and the Fire Prevention Week Luncheon.
